TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

1: i'm the youngest in my crew back home. probably my crew here, too, actually....

2: i accidentally killed my first mentor by giving him a poisoned mushroom when i was trying to help him get better.

3: my bounty is the biggest of my crew back home!

The first one I can believe and I think I can believe the second one considering your skill with medicine. You can probably rack up a crazy bounty that way

he had a skull on his jolly roger. said it meant vitality. so i didn't know the skull in the medical book was bad. i thought i was helping when i found the mushrooms from the book.

[Darin, it's fine, all the Straw Hats have Trauma backstories. It's why and how they work together. As odd as their little found family is. Not that this is something that he talks about much. He's mentioned it to Della once.]

i thought it would help. but i guess in the end, it wouldn't have mattered. what he had, nobody knew how to cure it, yet. that's why i want to learn more. so i can cure anyone! so i can help everyone!

Usually a higher bounty is given to a leader, and if you are the youngest, then it is unlikely you are the captain of the crew. Thus, the third one is the lie.

Perhaps not as obvious as you fear it to be. I still had to decide which was more unlikely before reasoning out the rest.

[It's been about seven years or so. Which means he would have been about eight at the time. He's old for a reindeer, but still the youngest of his crew back home. And at fifteen, probably the youngest of his crew here as well.]

The truth does have a way of coming out one way or another. Besides, this is a game, a way to learn more about people. There is no prize for finding or hiding the lie.

i guess so. i just was hoping i was playing properly if people were able to figure it out so easily.

Mushrooms can be tricky to identify. The fruiting bodies of fungi still have a limited variety of forms, and more than a few are varying degrees of toxic...

Are you studying medicinal practices?

but yes! i'm a doctor. i left home to try and learn more and treat more people so i can be better!

That's wonderful. I hope you have been able to keep learning here. Even among riftfarers, the peoples are diverse. I expect their knowledge would be much the same.

right! so there's a lot to learn. even just with my crew here, karlach and garrus are pretty unique, so i need to make sure i know enough to be able to treat them. let alone everyone else, too.

Everyone else? I hope you are at least sharing the duty. 'Twould be terrible if you worked yourself to exhaustion.

i'm the doctor on my crew. here with zelda and back home on luffy's crew with the straw hats. but that doesn't mean there aren't other doctors around in general, of course. and the crews aren't that big.
