TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Number one is the falsehood. You are a great magician among other things, but if you tried to visit every nation in a world, you would have time for little else.

[ Granted, Sherlock is also thinking about just how many nations are in his world and not realizing that the comparison doesn't exactly work. Also... travel times are vastly different. ]

Well done, Sherlock! I'm afraid that for all my reputation as Fontaine's greatest magician, I've only travelled out to one other nation. I've yet to have the pleasure of visiting the other five!

Your world only has seven nations?

Yes, indeed! Teyvat is made up of seven nations: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. Each region then has smaller sub-regions within it, but those are the main nations; one for each Archon.

Perhaps a better way to compare our two worlds would be for me to consider your nations closer to continents. The nations of my world are possibly more like your sub-regions. There are well over a hundred, nearing or surpassing two hundred nations depending on who you ask. However, there are just seven continents.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Isn't it magical?)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I see! I suppose Teyvat has just grown used to calling each region a nation. Fontaine itself is broken up into several different areas: the Balleau Region, the Beryl Region, the Liffey, Morte, and Nostoi regions, Erynneas, and of course the Court of Fontaine itself. The wording is different, but I believe we have similar concepts when it comes to how our worlds are divided.

Yes, that does make it clearer. Perhaps I got lucky with choosing your lie. If I had considered it more like a continent, then I would entertain the possibility that you had.

[ Lyney is a good magician after all and has that darker occupation in the shadows. ]
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's quite alright! I'm learning that each world has its own laws and own ways of organizing things, even when the concept itself is similar.

Which reminds me, we still need to meet up sometime for me to answer your questions about Teyvat! Just let me know when you are free, and I'll clear time in my schedule.

I have ample free time. The greater crimes tend to drop off during this weather for the criminals prefer to stay warm and dry rather than being out.

[ Yes, people can still commit crimes, but it tends to be more for necessity rather than malice or greed. Those crimes don't need solving or punishment. ]
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (These little tricks?)

Very well then! How about we agree to meet in a few day’s time, and I’ll answer your questions. Assuming you don’t mind me asking a couple of my own.

It would only be fair. Until then.
