TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

What a wonderful little game! Here, allow me:

1. I’ve traveled to every nation in my home world
2. I’ve been dropped from the top of the grandest building in Fontaine
3. I have more siblings than fingers and toes combined

Number one is the falsehood. You are a great magician among other things, but if you tried to visit every nation in a world, you would have time for little else.

[ Granted, Sherlock is also thinking about just how many nations are in his world and not realizing that the comparison doesn't exactly work. Also... travel times are vastly different. ]
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (A most unexpected answer!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-04 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well done, Sherlock! I'm afraid that for all my reputation as Fontaine's greatest magician, I've only travelled out to one other nation. I've yet to have the pleasure of visiting the other five!

Your world only has seven nations?
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (I am a connoisseur of the arts)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, indeed! Teyvat is made up of seven nations: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. Each region then has smaller sub-regions within it, but those are the main nations; one for each Archon.

[personal profile] astudyinviolet 2025-12-08 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps a better way to compare our two worlds would be for me to consider your nations closer to continents. The nations of my world are possibly more like your sub-regions. There are well over a hundred, nearing or surpassing two hundred nations depending on who you ask. However, there are just seven continents.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Isn't it magical?)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I see! I suppose Teyvat has just grown used to calling each region a nation. Fontaine itself is broken up into several different areas: the Balleau Region, the Beryl Region, the Liffey, Morte, and Nostoi regions, Erynneas, and of course the Court of Fontaine itself. The wording is different, but I believe we have similar concepts when it comes to how our worlds are divided.

...

Does this count as cheating if I say it?
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Let the show commence!)

Let's assume this happens after they make up?

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-04 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say so, considering there's no rules saying family can't participate.

But if you want something harder, I can come up with different questions for you?
scooba: (Moon)

Sure!

[personal profile] scooba 2025-12-06 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be fine.

What other three questions do you have for me?
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (People yearn to transcend the mundane)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Very well then! Here are your new questions:

1. I own two cats here in this world.
2. I've been practicing ice magic recently.
3. I've been keeping a surprise from you and Lynette.
scooba: (CORE)

[personal profile] scooba 2025-12-08 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
...I guess it might be 2?

I thought you were a pyro user.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (A most unexpected answer!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-09 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're correct, Freminet! Even though I could follow in Father's footsteps and pick up another element with the tattoo magic here, Pyro will always be my forte.

[Which means the other two options are true.]

1. I'm fairly certain you've already said you've never been to Sumeru.

Though I suppose the third one depends on how broadly you mean the term "sibling", doesn't it?
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (A most unexpected answer!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-04 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
You have an excellent memory, Kaveh! That is indeed the fib I told!

As for my siblings, why, I consider all the other orphans I grew up with to be my siblings. We may be closer to some than others, but all of us at the orphanage consider each other as siblings.
empyrean_mirror: (44)

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-12-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
I thought as much. I couldn't imagine you'd ever consider them anything less than family.

A good memory's important in my line of work. It's not really that impressive.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Nothing is more important than family)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't be a very good older brother if I considered them anything less, now would I?

You'd be surprised how many people discredit the value of a good memory, Kaveh. A sharp mind and ability to memorize things could be vital in a pinch!
empyrean_mirror: (10)

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-12-08 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose I could remember the sigil for the Temple of Silence but...you don't have to give me that much credit.
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (Let the show commence!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Is it wrong to give credit where credit is due?

3 is a trick question! You have hidden toes and fingers somewhere! Or have way less than the average human!

idk that much about human bodies you guys are kinda weird
spectacleofphantasmagoria: (A most unexpected answer!)

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-04 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why Miss Della, your humour is as bright and charming as you are!

But if it helps you with your answer, humans have ten fingers and ten toes, five fingers on each hand and five toes on each foot.

so you're saying you have over 20 siblings?

[personal profile] spectacleofphantasmagoria 2025-12-08 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, that one is indeed true! Though I suppose it does come with a caveat.

While it’s true I have a sister who is my blood relative, we grew up in an orphanage, you see. So all the other children I grew up with came to be viewed as brothers and sisters of a sort. The younger members look up to me as their older brother, and since many of us don’t have any other family, why, it would be cruel to disregard each other, wouldn’t it? After all, we live together, eat together, do activities together… is that not what siblings do in a real family?
