We typically classify them as ambulatory flora. So long as they produce energy in the methods plants utilize and have internal structures such as xylem and phloem, they are plants.
But, if they obtain energy primarily in the ways that animals do -- by eating -- and contain internal structures resembling animals, we would classify them as animals, and probably as ambush predators utilizing a form of environmental camouflage, as "monster" suggests an aggressive temperament.

That is a good question. I wonder how others might categorize us...
I suppose we are animals that share similarities with plants. Much of our internal structures are as you would expect from other fauna, but we can absorb and convert aether--light included--as a primary source of our energy.
