[Due to the Garuda Incident, this post is coming from a very bedridden Joshua who is recovering from some bad injuries. So, he’s bored and desperately running out of books to read.]
Good afternoon,
It seems I've found myself with a surplus of free time this month, and with that realization comes the stark truth—I've exhausted my reading list.
So, I had an idea. Why not extend an invitation to others who might be interested in joining the book club that Tifa and I have been enjoying? Every few weeks, we gather to exchange ideas and thoughts on the current book we're reading, and it's led to some wonderful discussions.
While our tastes have leaned toward adventure and romance novels thus far, I'm open to exploring books from other genres to diversify our collection. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Here are a few of the books we've read so far:
"The Swashbuckling Misadventures of Captain Bumblebeard"
"Enchanted Hearts and Dragon Flames"
"Spells and Sword Swells"
"Quest for the Heartstone: A Tale of Love and Sorcery"
"Siren's Song: A Pirate's Passionate Plunder"
"That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted A Love Potion At A Werewolf"
Although, I’m still not entirely certain what “yeeted” means. I only assume it means, “to throw”?
If you might be interested in joining in on our next reading, please do. As well as I’m taking suggestions for more books that the group might enjoy.
Sincerely,
Joshua.

I'd be interested in joining, and he will be joining us no matter his protests, but I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations offhand.

The both of you are most welcome, of course. I find Alhaitham's thoughts quite refreshing.

Anyway, might check out the book club if that's a thing. I don't got any books to give, and any I did have are back home in my world.

All the more reason to share the books we find now. I will be happy to share.

I'd kinda be interested in reading some adventure books though.

I am looking for stories. Or epics that turn the heart, of course. Good adventure books can do just that.

There's something special about the magic of escaping into a book. And seeing new perspectives that might not be your own.

The last time was at a tavern over sweet tea in Eltrut. Would that be comfortable for you?

To make things even more muddled, "yote" also means to pour water on or to pour in. That is not how it is being used here based on context.

As for your book club... I've found that they're quite successful at building rapport especially when so many of us hail from such different reals. I'd participated in one once where we read a book entitled "Pride and Prejudice." A fine read if you don't mind another foray in to the romance genre! Having food and drink and discussion questions prepared for participants to speak to was very successful.
I most often read nonfiction, accounts of merchants on their travels or adventurers' journals and such, but I suppose that sort of thing might not be to everyone's tastes...

I would have to say that "Spells and Sword Swells" has been my favourite, thus far. It's the perfect mix of adventure, fantasy and mystery that had me hooked like a fish. And the sweet love story between a mage and a swordswoman was, put simply, adorable.
That is exactly the idea I have been hoping for. We tend to share our thoughts over sweet tea at a tavern on Eltrut, should you wish to join us. I would be happy to hear more about your book choice as well. Even the journals you've read.

it's a specific feeling. like. you can throw something. or you can YEET it.
but i would be interested in a book club. i usually read books about mythology and biographies, but i'm down for whatever.
no subject
A specific feeling? When you throw the item or are about to throw it, perhaps?
You are more than welcome to join us. I have read many books on mythologies myself, if you can recall any of them from your home world I would be happy to listen.

You're more than welcome, Jill. Don't think I don't see you peeking over my shoulder when I am reading. Please do join us. I would be happy to see you there, romance novels in hand.

Would you kindly explain the structure of your book club? I'm rather curious and may attend the next session. I am an avid reader of literature and it is in fact, the focus of my job in my world.
no subject
And of course. The group settles on a title or two to read over the weeks that we are separated by your journeys out at sea or at work. We all enjoy our own copies of the books picked. Then every few weeks or so we gather over sweet tea on Eltrut to share our thoughts on the reading.

[Daqiang speaks in a level and largely bored tone, even as he shifts from his negative review of what he (now) understands to be 'zombie' romance, and to titles he... may have?... enjoyed? Or at least, didn't have a negative opinion of.]
"The Heart of the Sulfur Queen", "The Corsair's Revenge and a Paladin's Duty", and "My Year as a Milkmaid" - which is the fifth in the "My Year As" series - are ones this venerable one has finished in the last three weeks.
no subject
Thank you for your kind suggestions and honest reviews. I'll put them on my list to research. The ones you did enjoy, of course.
You seem to be an avid reader.

What a fantastic idea! I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in these gatherings, and can make a number of suggestions regarding books that have caught my eye during my time here that I've not yet made my way through. As it stands, it looks like I have a fair amount of catching up to do, a number of these titles sound absolutely thrilling.
As for "yeeted," given the context, I do believe you're right. Why would one not just use the word "threw?" It seems needlessly complex.
[He's one to talk.]
no subject
[He has a feeling Gale would have some great additions.]
And the word "yeeted" does seem like... as the younger children might say it? Pirate slang?

[You know who else is laid up? It's this guy! Though, he's fast on the mend thanks to his abilities, Darin's kept out of the public eye since...a lot of people probably saw him fight Garuda in the air above Eltrut and he's not sure he wants to face people now that a great deal of them probably saw him punch a giant bird lady.]
[Though, he can't resist the urge to reach out to Joshua. Hopefully he didn't see anything...?]
