Hello.
I am in need of legal advice regarding a private matter:
Is a marriage contract legally binding if one or more parties involved were under the influence of spiritual possession while it was officiated?
Thank you for your assistance.

(Things they don't ask: so did the ghosts use their bodies for the other stuff that happens with weddings? They're not sure they actually want to know the answer.)
Pretty sure if that weren't the case there'd need to be a lot of trials for attempted murder. (Because the ghosts were making people do that too.)

Attempted murder?
[ Maybe Zelda should count herself lucky that the ghost that possessed her wanted to get married to her former lover, not murder him for abandoning her. ]

...Think I'd rather deal with that than marriage.

You would rather be used as a tool in murder than get married?
No, I think I would quite prefer being married. Even if it turns out to be legally binding.
[ Hear that, Darin? Marrying you is preferable to being complicit in murder. :) ]

(Not physically. And she doesn't get to know about their real strength.
So it's more like they'd rather get their nose broken by a friend than get married to them.)

(Somewhere, they laugh. It wouldn't even make it into the top 100 most terrifying things they've experienced.
...Okay maybe it would if they nearly killed Turo or Ortega or something like that, but they don't think they can do either. At least, a ghost posessing them wouldn't be able to.)

And you would really prefer that over marriage?

(Okay maybe she's got them rethinking things but now they're being a fuck.)

[ If they're gonna be a fuck, she's gonna be nosy. ]

(Do they even want to be married? Ever? It's not something they really thought about, since they can't legally marry anyway.)

[ As someone who grew up expecting to get married for political reasons and not romantic ones, the prospect of not knowing or liking their future spouse is something Zelda expects. Not that she wants to marry a stranger or someone she dislikes, but if they're the most suitable person to be her consort and rule at her side, then that's just the way it's gonna be. ]
But that is irrelevant in this instance. I was wedded to my companion for the evening, who is a close friend. It was not an unpleasant experience, especially compared to attempted murder.
[ And yet here she is making a fuss over being married. ]

(Is she kidding? Marrying a stranger sounds like a nightmare! Their stomach churns at the thought of being bound to some stranger, of having to let them touch them like that.
It's enough to make them panic, almost.)
Sure they're just a friend? If you're so interested in marrying them.
(A deliberate ploy to move the topic away from their own preferences.)

They are still my friend, but they have become... more than that now. To be honest, I am not entirely certain what we are to each other now.

(They can relate to being ...complicated.)
Hope that works out for you.

My thanks. [ Sardonic or not, Zelda replies sincerely. ] Given the unexpectedly-reasonable explanation that the spirit donned my body like clothing, I expect the dubious legality of my marriage will fall in my favor.
[ Can't be married if you were clothes. ]

But this person clearly has a very different view of things, so...
It's really not their business.)
Yeah it'd be pretty awkward if the courts decided that the clothes used in a wedding also counted as being married.
(Would the bride and groom outfits be legally required to be kept together? Worn together? It's a funny train of thought, and they let their mind follow it for the moment.)
