Hello, and good day- I am Professor Turo for those who I have yet to meet.

This message is more for those of you that also visited Snaxburg Island and either had one of the creatures there follow you off of it, or may have... unfortunately eaten any of them.

[As he spoke, Turo's tone may have remained calm but there was a serious note to it. There did happen to be a Strabby perched on the desk behind him, a pink bow tied around it, which Turo did know was around but didn't know was there at the moment. There was, however, one he did know was going to be in frame.

Held very much like a hamburger he lifted up a BBQ Bunger so that googly eyes were facing the phone's camera.]

I do in fact mean those creatures like this- for those who might not have gone to the island, or even those who may need a reminder. These creatures that are known as Bugsnax are parasitic creatures that only have that nature turn into something dangerous upon being eaten. So again-

[After setting Chipotle the BBQ Bunger back down.]

Do not eat the Bugsnax, they are parasitic in nature upon being consumed.

If you have eaten any of the creatures found on Snaxburg Island, we may need to have a word or more. Please do get in touch.

(They figured it was some kind of trick. Why would an animal evolve to be enticing to predators otherwise?)

What do they do?

That I'm not entirely sure of- there was once some sort of cult that worshipped them, if the carvings are anything to go by. Consuming them a part of it- needing them to spread further.

Destruction was the end result, and only Bugsnax remained. I half wonder if whatever the driving force is feeds that way.

So it's like an entire predatory ecology.

Do you think it's safe to have them off the island? People might be able to be kept from eating them, but what about animals?

It is still strange. I cannot help but wonder how they evolved that way.

For now, yes. I'm not sure if animals are really interested in eating them, given that island didn't attract any. They may be specialized in their evolution- but I do have two I'm able to observe away from the island.

I know parasites that have multiple hosts sometimes change their current host to get it eaten by the next one.

(And that's basically all they know about that topic.)

Tend to- ah, what's the word. Zombify the host, control their movement and thought patterns to go where they are most likely to be eaten.

Strangely I haven't seen the same behavior in these creatures. They still try to run and hide, but the craving -should someone successfully catch one to eat- would drive them to continue that hunt.

I did notice that birds seem to steer clear of the island.

So the Bugsnax change the behavior of people who eat them, then.

To some degree, at the very least; a want to keep eating them. Like an addiction, for lack of better comparison.

(People, they know, will destroy themselves pursuing their addictions.)

Indeed. While the 'cure' is a simple one, it may be extremely hard for some more than others.

People destroy themselves for their addictions pretty regularly.

If the urge is strong enough I'm not sure the cure will work at all.

There is always the unfortunate measure of keeping the person under a sort of lock down. A friend always watching them, or just with them.

So far there's little else for it now.

Just gotta hope it goes away eventually, then.

(Sidestep is, unfortunately, rather doom and gloom.)

Hopefully there are no too many more. Fascinating as the entire island is, we do no need a reenactment of whatever may have occurred there to those that made the carvings and ruins there.

I can say that this was the last thing I expected to come across when exploring the island further. It is still worth in-depth study, in my opinion.

Just be careful. I wouldn't be surprised if this weren't all of it.

Neither would I- which means, unfortunately, if there are other parts of the Island here? It is very easy to imagine one part looking for the other, given it is Bugsnax all the way down from what I saw.
