An apology is just words from another person. Perhaps it can help you understand the motivation behind their actions, but that does not change the past.

I would also say it depends on the severity of the offense, but given you have turn this private, I suspect it to be grave indeed.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't.

I don't know if it's that severe but it's...complicated. Basically, I've gotten two apologies from two people who...we've got history. And I just, don't know how to deal with them.

I didn't even think I would ever get one.

I have been instructed by multiple sources that that is a good first step, and that eventually the acceptance will come, but I am not sure how well it works.
